On the Run with Sarah Ramos: Star of the
new CW drama, "Runaway" gives Sprawl
Magazine a bit of her time
By Tom Turpel

15 year old Sarah Ramos is hiding out in
another country right now. The former star of
NBC's critically acclaimed "American
Dreams" is now finding herself in Toronto,
hiding from police, evading mysterious
killers, and changing her name everytime
she visits a new town in the brand new CW
drama, "Runaway", which airs Mondays at
9pm.

Ramos grew up outside of Los Angeles, CA
in a small town in suburban Orange County.
She described it as being very laid back and
a place where she can still walk around
wherever she wants. At the age of nine,
Ramos began taking acting classes at the
Actors' Circle in Culver City.

"I remember going to classes and making
new friends. After awhile, I told my mom this
is what I want to do everyday." Ramos said
in an over the phone interview. "My mom
has been a big support and has always
been there to do whatever I need."

She didn't have to wait long. After a year and
a half of taking classes and shooting a
commercial for Universal Studios, Sarah
landed the role of Patty Pryor on NBC's
"American Dreams". After three seasons on
"Dreams", Ramos made guest
appearances on network programs such as
"Close to Home" and the hit comedy
"Scrubs". With "Runaway" already making a
buzz before the fall season has even
started, chances are Ramos will be acting
everyday for quite sometime."

In "Runaway", Ramos portrays Hannah
Rader, a teenage girl living on the run with
her family while her father (Donnie
Wahlberg), uncovers clues to prove his
innocence on a murder he didn't commit.
After viewing the pilot, critics believe the
series is definitely going to be the sleeper
hit of the fall, making Ramos, and the entire
Rader family, household names.

A lot has changed for Ramos since she
grew up in the sixties on "Dreams" to
becoming a "Runaway." She has had to
relocate from Los Angeles to Toronto,
where the series is shot. While "American
Dreams" was in between production
schedules, Ramos was able to attend
school with her friends. Now, she will have
a tutor until February, when shooting
"Runaway" ends. Instead of living in
spacious Orange County, she now lives in
downtown Toronto with her mom. "Everyone
walks more here."
Though Sarah is use to working with
notable celebrities and is on the verge of
becoming a big star herself, filming in
Toronto out of all places has made her a
little starstruck. "Andrew Lawerence, of the
famous Lawerence brothers plays the
character Brady on "Runaway", and I use to
watch him on "Brotherly Love." At first, I was
nervous and embarrassed to meet him
because I was a fan of the show, but he's a
really cool guy."

"A couple of my friends watch 'Degrassi:
The Next Generation', and I saw Emma
(Miriam Mc Donald) and Liberty (Sarah
Barrable-Tishauer) driving on the freeway,
and Craig (Jake Epstein) was getting into
the same elevator as me. I just stared the
whole time."
